Entrance Leadership Scholarship Competition

The Entrance Leadership Scholarship competition recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional leadership through school and community involvement while maintaining superior academic standing.

Eligibility

Candidates must:

• be entering an undergraduate degree program from high school at the University of Alberta in September 2012
• possess exceptional leadership qualities as demonstrated by community service and involvement
• have an award average of 80% or higher based on Grade 11 and/or Grade 12 final marks [+][–]
  • We calculate your award average using your English mark and your four highest marks in Humanities (Group A), Fine Arts (Group B), and Sciences (Group C).
  • Both Grade 11 (20-level) and Grade 12 (30-level) final marks may be considered.
  • A maximum of one Fine Arts subject may be included in your award average.
  • Equivalent courses will be used for non-Alberta students.

How to Apply

• Applications will be available to download from Bear Tracks on December 1, 2011
• Applications must be typed
• Transcripts must be original and will only be accepted by submitting in-person or by mail (faxed and e-mailed copies will not be accepted)
• Reference letters must be original, typed, dated, and signed by the author (the Unversity of Alberta) reserves the right to contact referees to verify the information submitted)
  • To be accepted, reference letters must include the student's university ID, the referee's contact information, and be signed by the author
  • Reference letters may be submitted:
    • Directly by the referee by email (from a valid institutional or corporate email domain only; public domain addresses such as Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, etc. cannot be accepted) to awards@ualberta.ca
    • Directly by the referee or applicant by facsimile at 780-492-4851
    • By the applicant in hard copy form

• Applications, transcripts/course mark inquiries, and reference letters must be sent to the following address before the closing deadline. All documents must be received by the Student Awards Office no later than 11:59pm on February 15, 2012 (no late applications, transcripts, or reference letters will be accepted after this deadline). • It is the student's responsibility to ensure that that the application submitted is complete (including ensuring that reference letters are signed, include the student ID, and include the referee's contact information). Incomplete applications will lead to disqualification. The Student Awards Office will not follow up on incomplete applications.
