Undergraduate Academic and Leadership Awards Application Reopening:
January 15 - 22
January 14, 2014 - Undergraduate Academic and Undergraduate Leadership award applications will reopen from January 15 to January 22, 2014 for continuing undergraduate students.
The Office of the Registrar has extended these undergraduate award deadlines due to technical circumstances that have now been resolved. This will help ensure additional opportunity for students that are eligible to deal with past technical issues they may have experienced during the application phase and resolve issues that may have occurred previously.
If you had previous issues accessing the application and/or would like to apply, please submit your application by January 22, 2014.
Undergraduate award applicants do not need to reapply if:
- They have already submitted applications for Undergraduate Academic and/or Undergraduate Leadership awards
- They identified an application issue prior to December 20, 2013
: If a student experiences issues accessing or submitting applications during the week of January 14 to January 22, they must contact Student Connect immediately. Students unable to access or submit applications that do not contact Student Connect by January 22 will be considered to have missed the deadline and therefore ineligible for award consideration.

Scholarship Funding Notice
September 13, 2013 - Contrary to reports on social media and in media coverage, the University of Alberta is not holding back scholarship funds.
We are engaging in a review of process and timing of scholarship awards. Our goal is to get scholarship information and funds into the hands of students to make it easier for continuing students to make financial planning decisions and for prospective students to make timely, informed acceptance decisions.
This review is not related to budget challenges. Our goal is to better support the university's recruitment efforts while also supporting current students.
- Eligibility, amounts, and terms have not changed.
- Only timing has changed to better serve our students and help inform their planning and decision making.
- Students formerly applied in the fall for these awards, but will now apply in the Winter Term.
- For those students that have been offered a Continuing Award for this fall, the normal disbursement schedule will be followed.
Accepting your Award
Recipients will be notified through the mail and through U of A email. Please ensure that your mailing address is current in Bear Tracks, and check your U of A webmail regularly.
In Bear Tracks under the heading Undergraduate Awards, select My Awards if you would like to authorize that you meet eligibility criteria, and agree to FOIPP terms, thus allowing the release of your personal information to the donor of the named award. Declining to release personal information to the donor will not affect your eligibility to receive the award.
If you receive an award in the Fall Term, it will be divided in half and dispersed equally over the Fall and Winter Terms. If you receive an award in the Winter, it will be paid out in full to that term. Some awards will only be paid in one installment; for example, Convocation awards will not be split into two payments. Check Bear Tracks for more information after you accept the award.
To print out your T2202A (What's a T2202A?) for tax purposes, check Bear Tracks. Please note that this will not be mailed out and the only way to receive it is through Bear Tracks.
T4A's (What's a T4A?) for award's received are not currently avaliable on Bear Tracks. They will be mailed to students in March. Please ensure that your address in Bear Tracks is up to date.
